About the Moluccan Cockatoo

Moluccan cockatoos can also be known as Salmon-crested cockatoos. This parrot stands out from the rest because of their salmon-pink feathers and brilliantly coloured crest. They are easy to recognise by the bright pink feathers that adorn the base of its crest. It's barely noticeable when the feathers are flat, but when the bird is excited, afraid, or angry, the crest will raise and show off its true beauty. 

The Moluccan is a large bird, one of the largest white cockatoo species, but can range in size, reportedly because the region in which they are found in the wild is large enough to support sub species. Moluccan cockatoos are native to the south Moluccas and eastern Indonesia. They live in lowland forests and their wild diet includes seed, fruit, nuts as well as insects.
